I, my wife Caroline and my two sons have lived in Alabama Senate District 9 since 1990. Caroline grew up in district 9 and attended Whitesburg Elementary and Middle Schools and graduated from Huntsville High School. When we retired from the Army we returned to the south Huntsville area to raise our two boys because of its traditional family oriented values and excellent school system. It is these values that I wish to maintain and expand upon for you, the people of this district. I strongly feel that I understand how my friends and neighbors in this district want to be represented in Montgomery and the way they want their Senator to vote on the various issues that affect their daily lives and children's future.

I am a conservative Republican who believes in less government, less taxes, government at the lowest level, more efficient use of current levels of revenue and a strong education system which supports our teachers' ability to provide the best possible education to our children.

As each of us go about our daily lives we often do not have the time to become fully aware of the impact on our lives of legislation that is being voted upon in Montgomery and trust that our Senator will do this job for us. But too often to our dismay we find out after the fact that our property is now being reassessed each year instead of four, private housing is being converted to public housing in your neighborhood, state Senator's pay is being raised 62%, ethics bill is not being released from committee and on and on.

As your Senator I promise that I will keep that trust to the utmost of my ability, ensure these types of issues are publicized before they are voted on and I understand your position before I vote.
